Did it die? It would not have even kept the name if it did. There is such thing in corporate world where even if you have a negative equity, deader than dead but still have a pulse, the still is considered a "going concern". Otherwise, it would have been liquidated (shooting an injured horse analogy) and assets sold and no longer allowed to operate.
That did not happen to GM. It got medicated and able to payback the assistance that they got.
