I can't find it now,but there used to be a video of a Suburban 2500 that lost trailer brakes get pushed through an intersection.

I've always chuckled at the whole losing brakes argument. A HD truck's brakes are rated to stop GVWR of the truck, not the GCWR of the combo. Sorry if your heading down Monteagle and you lose trailer brakes and overheat a Dually's brakes...you will end up in the runaway truck ramp praying it stops you.
Okay...a little dramatic I know...but it does happen.
Lost my brakes in my 7700 lb GVWR TT with my overloaded 97 F150...no panic stop..geared down and let the motor slow me down. When I hit the truck brakes I stopped. This was an emergency once I realized I lost trailer brakes... f150 handled it just fine.
Once again...the operator makes the equipment safe. Not the other way around.
