I CAME ACROSS A COUPLE OF 7500 OR 8000 LBS UNITS THAT HAD PICTURES OF 1/2 TON TRUCKS AND I JUST LAUGHED.
Now you are talking over 10,000 lbs. Which is it 7,500 lbs or over 10,000? That is a pretty big difference.
DockmasterDave,
Did you see the pic I posted? Silverado 1500 and a 10,000+ lbs trailer. IMy personal opinion is that 7,500 or 8,000 lbs trailer once loaded is still to heavy. I dont care what the truck is rated at, if there is a failure with brakes or tires on the trailer a 1/2 pickup will have a hell of a time stopping in an emergency with that much weight. This is my personal opinion not that of a truck manufacturer.
Yes you are pushing them to the limit, anything goes wrong then you have a major problem
Hate to point it out again but the trailer has it's own brakes :R
My last '07 F150 was at 100% of every rating(axles/tires) over the GVWR of the truck by 400lbs and right on the GCVWR of 15000lbs. Yup what started off at a 5600lb GVWR camper ballooned to 7000lbs on the axle and over 900lbs on the tongue. Drove the truck for three years with no ill effects. Great truck.
It should have its own brakes, but it is not going to correct problems with the TV when it has brake failure or something else go wrong with it.
