You Need To See This Pic: Here's one for the 1/2 ton P/u owners;

Reminds me of Korea. I'd see those "bongo" trucks WAY over loaded and saw one break an axle outside post one time.
That is why ASIAN manufacturers build in lot more " beefing up" as they know they will be overloaded. Weight Police can be savage here, if you have an excessive load
We trend to downrate vehicles, a Sprinter 3500 rated to tow 7, 500lb in the US, has a 4,400lb rating in Australia. A Ford SuperDuty F250 with a 6.7 Diesel gets a 4.5 tonne rating(9'900lb) or a 5tonne (11,000lbs) with a stronger hitch
Actually this truck pictured, while in Cambodia which drives on the same side we do, is from Thailand which drives on the British side. These are STOCK vehicles. (this Toyota pictured was made in Thailand)
Most of the ones sold in Cambodia/Laos are USED vehicles from the US, either Insurance Totals or similar disaster cars and they too are stock US spec. If they are beefed up at all it's in a local shop.
The New Vehicles from Japan and Korea and China are waay tooo expensive for this kind of work and only the wealthy have them (or bigger businesses). A new Camry will set you back almost $80,000 a new small pick up like a Toyota will be about double the US price.
Well the vehicles pictured are pretty old, but the new Vehicles have a considerable margin of safety built in new. they do sell quite a few New vehicles in Thailand, Cambodia not that well off. Do not know about the US ones but I would say not
