Would insurance cover if a ball joint failed and your front left or right suspension failed due to that. Lots of things don't become apparent till after an event. That's why they're called accidents. I understand a lot of insurance first response is denial and you have to push to get what you want. Talk to the Attorney Generals office. Send them copies of correspondence and see what happens but don't take no for an answer first thing. Make that wheel squeak loudly in your insurances ears. I'm sure Lance would like a chance to address the accusation of poor engineering.
