In 2013 the frame of the 3500 was up graded, all new. Upgraded front and rear suspension, dual cooling system, front axle weight rating of 6000#, rear axle weight rating with 4.10 and the Aisin tranny of 9750#, but AAM rates it at 11,800#. The GVWR is 14,000#. My GCWR is 37,500#. My 13 is rated at 385HP with 850lbft of TQ. Its also my daily driver, something I couldnt do with an HDH.
These new 3500 duallys have come a LONG way in last couple years. Also with the 6.7 cummins and Aisin tranny you get a medium duty tranny strapped to a medium duty engine.
Its not just paper up ratings, These trucks are heavier and more solid.
OP needs to drive a new one just to see and feel the differnce. With my 5er, Im loaded to just under 26,000# and do all my towing in the.mountains. Its so easy for this truck that I could easily go to a 5er that weighed 22,000# or more, still be under my weights and tow with no problem....the EB is AWESOME..
Try one, you'll love it (-:
Try one, you'll love it.... That is my fear. Love to have a new one but man hate to drop down that chunk of change. At this point I'm sure it will be another RAM.
