Don't know that I want to go to anything I have to have an extra license for but was wondering price wise and length of life wise if maybe a RAM 550 would pencil out better in the long run. I'm pretty sure the new RAM 3500's would handle my needs but I would still be on the higher side of the weight range limit when fully loaded, however with a 5500 I would not be taxing it weight/load wise which should yield a longer life due to less stress on mechanical parts and temperatures should run a little lower but may suffer on MPG"
It's the Same Cummins engine and same Aisin tranny if not mistaken as in the 3500....just a MUCH more beefed up suspension on the 5500 with higher GVWR, GCWR and higher axle ratings.....but if you want to spend even more money...believe it would be a good choice if that's what you need.
