Crashing Into Road Debris From An Unsecured Load

Large AC unitDebris pulled out from under the truckI've managed to make decent repairs to the truck. No mechanical damages, I'll replace parts when we return home. The truck is running great. No overheating issues, all the work toward that has paid off. Our roadtrip continues.

I have made a decent repair so we are continuing ahead with plans and will still be attending the TCA Truck Camper Rally

  • Good thing you were in a truck Jeff. Looks like it only dented the bumper hopefully. Glad it was only minor damage.
Sucks when no time to react.
Just in the last few years, have had 3 vehicles damaged by **bleep** flying off of ignorant peoples vehicles.  All in Seattle…
Truck lost a chunk of steel. As it was sliding and spinning got flipped up and bashed rocker and door bottom. Company truck thankfully.
Younger son, thankfully driving the beater Tahoe caught a tarp across the windshield on I 5. Actually it caused an accident behind him after it came off his windshield. Broken mirror, antenna and wiper. Super lucky no one hit the brakes in front of him while he was driving blind.
Then older son driving the old commuter Camaro home from work, 2 cars in front of him the roof top luggage carrier came off a POS Subaru in head to head traffic at 60mph.  (99 Camaro pristine low mile v6 5 speed, great cheap car)  It flew over the car in front of him and landed where he couldn’t avoid running it over. Busted the whole plastic nose, air dam, ripped the fender well out and ripped the bottom fender mount off. Plastic front fenders.

I am tired of fixing **bleep** because of random people’s ignorance…lol.

We're in the Tucson Phoenix area now. I'm going to look around for a decent dashcam.

        Amazon.
Personally I can’t subscribe to the “film everything in my life as potential evidence later”. Think they should ban those things. As well as private footage in other instances.
(Got by that when neighbor kids buddy ran into my truck on my driveway while speeding and cutting a blind corner and neighbor had it on film from a distance and bad angle and insurance company said I failed to yield)

The damage done to our vehicles, the responsible parties are just lucky it was my kids driving.
If it were me, they would have been fixing my car or eating their teeth.

Our Buick car was totaled out about a year ago hitting a pickups muffler that fell off on the highway in front of us at night.  Of course, the driver of the truck took off after seeing us and another car pulling over to access the damage.  We ended up going up and over the huge round muffler which destroyed everything up front and underneath the car. I'm glad to see you didn't receive any major damage and were able to repair most of it and carry on, you're very lucky.
