- JoeChiOhkiExplorer IIGlued in first two 2x6s that go into the floor and front wall to support the new 41 gallon fresh water tank, replacing the extremely under framed floor structure.
- happycamper1942ExplorerHad to buy two new propane tanks as the old ones were out of date. Two weeks ago I had to do the same thing for my 5th wheel si it has been an expensive month.
- JoeChiOhkiExplorer IITore out the plywood on the floor to solve the mystery of the over flexing floor.
The reason? Floor is made up of 2x2s that run the full length of the floor, with only one set of 2x4 pieces near the front poorly installed to stiffen it. - DWeikertExplorer IIPicked it up with a new Coleman Mach 8 Cub installed.
I didn't lift the shroud to verify and it was hard to see behind the white shroud in full sun, but it appears Coleman/Airxcel has replaced the noisy 6 bladed fan with the quieter 3 blade at the factory. Outside I could just barely hear the fan with the genny running. The Eu2000 powered the Cub just fine in eco mode BTW. I turned it on as soon as I parked the rig, then by the time I had pulled the truck out from under the camper and lowered it I stepped inside and it was my kind of cool. Granted it was only in the mid 80's outside but I still had more thermostat to go. Speaking of which. The controls couldn't have been better placed to get to from bed.
Gary, you were right! I did give self install serious consideration. I'm not sure which part of the job would've been worse. Removing the old roof vent, knowing the way Northstar likes to keep joints well sealed, or manhandling the AC not only while on the roof but getting it up there. Frankly I'm just not as young as I used to be so I figured I'd spend some money in my local community on this one. No regerts. :)
Next project, install the Renogy solar panels. - ggadwaExplorerDan,
I think you will love the Mach 8. I installed ours myself after much research. It starts and runs perfectly with the Honda Eu2000 Inverter Generator.
GARY - DWeikertExplorer IIDropped it off at a local dealer to have a Polar Cub Mach 8 installed.
- JoeChiOhkiExplorer IICut a 2x6 to bolt into place for the new furnace vents to anchor to from the outside, finish cleaning, butyl taping and reinstalling the last of the trim strips to the driver's side, installed the new fresh water tank fill port, city water connection, and cut the new hole in the replaced 2x6 for the 30 amp marine connector for shore power and sealed it into place.
Also got the other rear jack bracket drilled and mostly installed (Still need to pull the shower so I can install the rest of the carriage bolts into the frame to secure the lower leg portion from the second direction.
Tomorrow, I'll clean and clear the floor so I can tear up the forward sheet of plywood and see if the floor framing needs repairs or just additional framing (will need some anyways up front to support the new 41 gallon fresh water tank.
The 35 gallon waste tank has finally shipped, found a new 20" wide tread three step folding stair case to replace the existing two step, and if there's time left tomorrow, I'll finish dry fitting the new bed frame into the cabover, and then cut the rest of the pieces so I can get it installed and be able to safely climb up and start carefully removing the last pieces of the ceiling (need to use them as a template to cut the new pieces).
Once those are out, I can begin running the new wiring for the running lights, finally figured out why they weren't working well. Apparently to save 30 cents, they grounded them all into the skin on the driver's side rather than run a ground wire all the way back. - Canadian_CamperExplorerWe added a second shower curtain rod and curtain in the bathroom over the vanity, so anything sitting on the vanity and the vanity and medicine cabinet will not get soaked when showering. Two more sleeps!
- joe123ExplorerPutting in supplies to go camping on Monday four days at the beach.
- Canadian_CamperExplorerShopped for last minute things for our upcoming trip!
