solar install stage 1
so I got the roof all washed down and had to let it dry real good so I started on the electronic/wiring side.
I mounted the shunt first as it was easy and I already knew where it was going, I think I am going ot order the temp sensor for the other input, haven't quite decided on that yet
after this I had to figure out where to mount the MPPT and the breakers, keeping in mind that I may want to add an inverter later on. its a good thing this battery box was built to be part of a shelf in the old camper, it gave me a surface to mont things to. the breakers are din mount 60amp breakers, mostly for the ability to disconect the panels and the battery, but will also give me protection on the charge current to the batteries. I did wire the putput and input of the MPPT charge controler to the breakers before I mounted them as it was much easier for me to do on the counter haha
I had to pull 10ga solar wire from the battery location to the ends coming down from the celing. I was going to run a whole new line, but the only way to access it that I could find was to pull the fridge out and I wasn't going to do that, so I used all the exsisting 10ga they had put in all ready all I did was extend it to where the battery is. I also had to pull out the gopower pwm controler and access the wires behind. there was lots of slack so I was able to put MC4 conectors on them to act as a pass through for the power coming from the panels.
input from the panels and the output to the batteries hooked up.
finaly the old gopower was put back into place after the wires were pluged togeather and tucked into the wall. so it just acts as a face plate no keeping it looking like it did from the factory.
so right now I have the victron takeing car of the power coming in from the 100 watt panel it cam with from the factory. the next step is to get up on the roof and actualy mount the panels then plug them in, instead of the 100 amp.
