Dixie, I would check with a golden rescue as mentioned to see if there is help with funding. I once got involved with a purebred 12week old westie pup that had been released to the vet I worked for to be euthanized as the puppy had a liver shunt and the owner did not want to deal with it. Of course she was adorable and we all got involved. I found a website of an organization that had grants for dogs medical care. We submitted her bills, she had her surgery and they paid for the whole thing. That was two years ago and she is doing great living with a couple in Washington. I would think if you can find the funding go for the surgery when I worked at vets offices we did many amputations on dogs and cats and they all did great,
