2013 travel to Alaska

We are planning a trip to Alaska on June 15th. Crossing into Canada at Sweetgrass MT. We want to know if going from Calgary to Banff and then traveling Hwy 93 to Jasper is a good highway. We want to go to Prince George and then continue on the Yellowhead hwy 16 and then turn onto the Cassiar Hwy 37. We have traveled the Alaskan hwy a few times but we have never taken this route. How available is diesel along the way? Will we run into snow at this time of year?

It's a wonderful road. Perhaps the most scenic in North America, wide and well surfaced. Your route will work out just fine.

Unlikely to see snow now, but not impossible. In any event, it wouldn't stay around for long. I wouldn't think you'll have any problem finding diesel. (Paying for it might be a different question!)
  • Highway 37 has been closed due to flooding near Dease Lake might want to monitor its status. Calgary to Banff to Jasper is a good road, all freeway from Calgary to Lake Louise and then very scenic on the Iceway to Jasper. first part of the road from Jasper west is quite nice especially around Mt. Robeson after that on the way to Prince George not that much to see.
