840 is finally opened !!!

Well sorta! 840 was originally designed to be a beltway around Nashville, but due to budget over costs the upper section was abandoned years ago. The lower section then went into limbo due to environmental concerns. Finally the entire section has been completed and for all of you who are travelling on I-24 toward Nashville to get on I-40 and head west this is a welcome sight. It does not save any time, about the same, but does allow you to bypass the traffic and congestion of going through Nashville. The only downside is that fuel stops are very limited so best to fill up before taking it if your running low. Unless you need to go through Nashville for some reason I definitely recommend this route. Happy travels to everyone.

    It's what Atlanta needs.

It may be that but it sure beats the havoc of going through Nashville on 440, currently under re-construction and then onto 40 with the crazy traffic. Definitely my choice when traveling that way.:)
  • I checked that one out on google earth and that is about the furthest out bypass I have ever seen.
