97 from Bend, Oregon to Weed, Ca.

We are headed from Spokane down to Sacramento next week. When I run the route thru the Good Sam route guide it comes back with the preferred route down I-5 instead of turning off at Biggs Junction and heading down 97. Is there any good reason not to head south at Biggs in an RV? I am familiar with 97 to Bend. Really curious about 97 from Bend to Weed. We have a 30 class C MH. Thanks in advance for the info.

    Did that route North from Weed a couple years ago in mid May pulling a 38ft 5er. No problems and a scenic drive.

    97 is a beautiful drive. When i had to travel south on business 97 was my preferred route. There is traffic around Bend, since it is a two lane road you do have to be careful of oncoming traffic.

    This time of year, Hwy 97 is a fine route taken by big rigs all the time. No reason not to take it.
