AIR HORN
Has anyone heard about or used a small air horn as a bear deterrent since making noise is recommended.

I read a study many years ago by Alaska F&G which tested various deterrents. The most effective was a whole string of black cats (firecrackers). Not because they are so loud, my bear bangers are far louder, but because of the sheer length of the noise. Every single bear left the area, every one.
