Anchorage campground
Is there another campground in/near Anchorage besides the Golden Nugget? We stayed there in '08 & have it listed as our worst. We are in Lake McLeese,BC in Kelly's Campground for 2 days of R&R after 4...

The Wasilla area is not locally known as the Meth-Su (vs. Mat-Su) for no reason. :( ....and there's a reason that most of the "Alaska State Troopers" episodes feature at least one incident out of the Palmer Wasilla area.
For near Anchorage suggestion:
- As mentioned: Eagle River (SP) and Williwaw (BLM?) are relatively close
- In Palmer there is a CG on the Glenn just West of Palmer proper, can't recall the name of it.
- There are also 2 (IIRC) no-hookup but nice CG's (appearances only, I've never stayed there) on the Old Glenn/Palmer Alternate between Palmer and the Eklutna Power Plant.
