Bounderlew brings up an interesting point about stolen vehicles. If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered the Mexican Gov. considers it sold and wants their duty! To make matters worse most insurance companies want you to provide proof that the duty has been paid before they will issue a check. If your vehicle is written off there is a procedure for someone from Aduana to issue papers showing the vehicle was destroyed. At one time some insurance companies wanted the vehicle taken to the border to cancel the sticker! Why do they make such ridiculous rules in a country where there are hundreds of thousands of illegal cars being driven by Mexicans? Where most of the stolen cars in AZ end up in Mexico.Often used by police! The Hologram program was a good idea but it needs to be modified.
