Another 10 yr permit question?

I see a lot of Gringos leaving RV's with 10 yr permits in Mexico with clear intentions of never taking them NOB. A good idea which I would like to explore but I think the 10 yr permit still assumed that we do not leave the RV in Mexico? I think the 10 yr anniversary of the 10 yr permit is coming up soon?
Gringos tend to just think about crossing the border, but they have to think about the Units they have brought into Mexico under specific permits- Right?

Bounderlew brings up an interesting point about stolen vehicles. If your vehicle is stolen and not recovered the Mexican Gov. considers it sold and wants their duty! To make matters worse most insurance companies want you to provide proof that the duty has been paid before they will issue a check. If your vehicle is written off there is a procedure for someone from Aduana to issue papers showing the vehicle was destroyed. At one time some insurance companies wanted the vehicle taken to the border to cancel the sticker! Why do they make such ridiculous rules in a country where there are hundreds of thousands of illegal cars being driven by Mexicans? Where most of the stolen cars in AZ end up in Mexico.Often used by police! The Hologram program was a good idea but it needs to be modified.

This question is of interest to Me as well.
I still have the Ten Year Hologram that I obtained for My Old Motorhome back in 2006. I have kept it just in case something comes up in the year 2016!
Somewhere along the way I had Lost the Original Paperwork , and when I attempted to Turn it in On the Final Trip with that Rig I was told that without that piece of paper it could not be done. The Border Official told Me to just toss it in the Basura. I was not about to do that ,so Even though She assured Me that there was "No Problem" I still have it!
The irony is that I have not had any problem obtaining a New 10 Year Permit for Our present Rig, nor do I have problems getting a TIP for the Tow Car.
It seems that they were only Linking the Permit to Our Passports back in 2006, a practice that is no longer done. Canadian Passports were only for Five Years ,so unless Mexico can somehow Trace Me using My Old Expired Passport Number (Unlikely) I shouldn't have any hassle in the future either.
These Days They actually have My Full Name and Address entered on the TIP and although They also have My Current Passport on file it is no longer the only information / reference number that is accessible to the Computer Terminal at the Aduano office.

I received my 10 year permit about December 1, 2005 and still have the same unit. This was the first general 10-year TIP offered if memory serves. Another RV'er I know got papers for a 10 year permit 2 or 3 years before, following a mix-up with the VIM numbers in his unit, dealt with by contacting the manufacturer. He never got a window decal to go with the paperwork and this one will have expired, who know what will the ramifications be if he still has the RV.

I still have a couple more possible entries with this original 10-year permit. I had planned on turning it in, back in March, but found I was in the wrong place to do so.

I am not crystal clear on the Mexican government's intent concerning vehicle's left too long in Mexico. I have heard that vehicles that should have current TIP's but do not, found in the country are subject to seizure. If you bring in another vehicle to replace one that "should have" come out with you at another time (and had a TIP) it will be deemed to have been sold, thus you will need to pay duty. That ruling apparently also applies to a vehicle that had been stolen from you while you were in Mexico; there is no distinction between a sale or having had it stolen.
