X-2. We stay in the park for a week 31 years ago. Half of it boon docking in north part then in Fishing Bridge. No problem getting into Fishing Bridge at the time.

If you want to go that far out, there's also Red Rock RV Parkwhich is very, very, nice. Stayed there for a week once and enjoyed the setting. Hosts are super easy to work with too.

On the west side of Yellowstone look up Henrys lake. There is a state park there BUT on the west side of the lake there is a county park that is free. No hook ups but what you want for free... a great jumping off point to vist West Yellowstone.

2gypsies - have to agree with you on staying within Yellowstone - at least once. We did that and we have great memories - back when we had a smaller rig.

Liberty2010: Yellowstone Valley Inn is in a very nice scenic area outside of Cody. However, be prepared for long days if you're planning to 'do' Yellowstone from there. Yes, it might be 30 mi to the East Gate but that's just the gate, then you're going to have many, many miles to get to the areas of Yellowstone. Hope it works for you. We enjoy staying IN Yellowstone for the best experience. Have a good trip!

On the Cody side we have reservations at http://www.yellowstonevalleyinn.com/ to start a week from Sunday. pool ,hot tub, semm like nice folks about 30 miles to the East Gate

We approached a CG attendant cold while there one year and she was very nice. Contacted Fishing Bridge and they got us in for 3 days with no reservations. That was a fluke I know, but there will be something in one of the CG

You have several nice CG's to stay at. On your side, but close is Rex Hale CG - here's a link from some full-timer's currently staying there - click here.

Then as mentioned, and one of our favorites is West Yellowstone - you'll have to go in the East Entrance then back out the West side. If you like the resort style - stay at Grizzly RV in town. It's very nice. They have laundry and free coffee every morning in their lounge. Nice areas to walk your dogs too if you have any. Just 2 miles north of town is Baker's Hole - a FS CG with electric hookups at most sites and water spigots throughout to fill your tank. A threaded one at the entrance, the rest you'll need a Water Thief. This is a big rig friendly FS CG and one that we've stayed at several years in a row and quite a few sites are satellite friendly if you have one of those too. If you stay here and want to see The Grand Tetons but get closer, Colter Bay CG off of Jackson Lake has both a full hookups side and a dry camping side that fit rigs of any size.
