It is faster to stay on 66 to 81 but 17 other then a straig nine mile section is four lane divided road. I drive it all the time and so many big trucks did to avoide the scales that they put no trucks on that nine mile section. It is a good alternative if 66 is backed up as it was yesterday for a fire in the median
