This from this week's Banff newspaper:
As winter comes to a close, so does nighttime use of the Bow Valley Parkway.
A seasonal travel restriction for the 17-kilometre stretch between the east end of the parkway and the Johnston Canyon Campground comes into effect on Sunday.
This will be the second year that Parks Canada implements the restriction, which was put in place this time last year to create a stress-free environment for wildlife to feed and raise their young during Banff’s slow thaw period.
The restriction bans the use of vehicles between the hours of 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., when natural animal activity is at its highest, and lasts until June 25.
