Bc trip advice

Hi everyone. I am planning a small trip from Edmonton to Summerland BC and was wondering what your thoughts are for the various routes. I have eight days for the round trip with visiting a friend for a couple of them. Thanks for your input.

Ps will be pulling a 35' fiver as per sig
  • I agree with Explorenorth's suggestion. As you will have travelled thru Yoho NP on the way out. Go back over the Monashees on Hwy6, stay at Mabel Lake or Burton (great campground) then take 31A to Kaslo and the the Balfour/Kootenay ferry and return via Cranbrook, visit Fort Steele, stay at Norbury, take 93/95 to Radium, sample the hot springs, stay at Redstreak and return via Kootenay NP Hwy93.

Might be a bit of a push to do in 8 days but a really good drive.

    Good luck
  • I made you a map of the route I'd take (the most scenic route - most of which I just did a few days ago) - it's at Google Maps. Then you could go back via Cranbrook for some real variety.
  • #2 to Calgary (boring)then west to Sicamous is the most direct route. Highway 11 from Red Deer to the Icefields Parkway is a very scenic alternative but have enough fuel to reach Field or Golden from Nordegg, prices are stiff at Saskatchewan River Crossing. At Golden you can go south on 95 then 3 west (a very nice trip) or stay on Highway 1. Whichever you choose enjoy the journey
