Big Siuth Fork np access roads

We have late June reservations at Bandy Creek campground in the Big South Fork NP in TN. We will be driving a 32’ Class C, no tow, and probably arriving from the east. I’ve been told that the route in from Oneida is very steep with difficult turns/switchbacks A western approach takes us way out of the way.

Any comments would be appreciated.

  • Hey kids, we are heading there too. From Cherokee NC. We have a 37ft 5ver that's 13.8ft tall so we have to watch the height part. Even though it's longer, thinking of coming in through Jamestown. Hwys 40-127-154-297. What do you think??? Thanks for the info.
  • Like "scrubjaysnest", Just watch your speed. I like the drive myself. This is the way I go in.
If you can and have time, go west to the Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park.

Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is a state park in Pall Mall, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Situated along the Wolf River, the park contains the farm and gristmill once owned by decorated World War I soldier Alvin C. York (1887–1964), who lived in the Pall Mall area for most of his life.
  • The eastern approach has 3 or maybe 4 step sections but there is plenty of room in the turns if you keep it under 25 mph. There are a couple of rock overhangs but we had no problem with our height of 11' 3"; again it's keep the speed down and pay attention.
