People here in Mexico would love for the U.S. border to be open as well.

...my specialization is in spatial (geographic) analysis. Geospatial analytics. This can entail analyzing epidemiological data geospatially; all the way to aerially collected hyperspectral analysis of Earth surface mineral deposits. To the best location to build a new Walmart supercenter. Traffic network analysis (road system vehicle routing problem solving)...etc.

There isn't anything to be said about Canadian west/east/west interstate roadways, but be have the old stand-by: railroads LOL. Look at the US interstate system: I-10, I-20, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-90 (all west/east/west). Then add all the north/south US interstates. I-15, I-25, I-35, I-55 etc...Canada's population is about ~11.5% that of the US presently, but they (the US) have just under 48,000 miles of interstate system; compared to Canada's one single Trans Canada highway....and that is not even a divided multi-lane freeway for most of its length....IN 2021! The main Trans Canada artery coast-to-coast is only 4645 miles. A few short "real" divided freeways exist linking large cities in all 10 Provinces to US interstates...but their length is very short, reflecting the fact that 90% + of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border. Train lines (and a few logging truck routes) exist to move raw oil, ore, trees (for later cutting into lumber) southward.

Imagine how expensive it is to move a 20 foot container-load of Chinese-made T-shirts or running shoes in port at Vancouver, shipped by road, all the way to Quebec and Maritimes, thousands of miles ? Walmart USA (metaphor for all consumables) ships all this stuff to Canada's Walmarts, straight up from south to north....not across Canada Vancouver to Quebec.

Anyhow, this is a long-winded post showing how, without the US, Canada couldn't function as tiny "island economies" each separated latitudinally by ~600 miles of nothing, functioning but as a hewer of wood, and pumper of oil (notwithstanding post-industrial era Canada's finance, real estate and insurance industries, and the IT companies providing the contracted back-office processing). This will be very contentious among Canadians, but maybe better to have 4 countries (BC+Alberta; Central West; Ontario; Quebec+Maritimes), each with their own trade deal with the US, with Euro-zone like free unimpeded migration (ie. no border with the US for Canadians, and visa-versa for US nationals), and a health care system modeled after the UK's. Today, all our Provinces compete against each other (Canada has a "free trade agreement" with ITSELF, did you know? The C-FTA Canada free trade agreement, as of July 2017) Imagine??

Silver. I am convinced you have a Doctorate in statistics. I love those posts! As for Canadian highways we are not known as road builders. We can skin a moose, trap a beaver and make great Poutine but forget about making decent highways.

....Moisheh: an astounding 90% of the Canadian population live within 100 miles of the US border. Only 11 ~ 12% of Americans live within 100 miles of the Canadian border. Appx 12% of Canadians live in the USA (live in, not visiting). Appx 400,000 cross the Canadian/US/Canadian border daily (not weekly!) in pre-Covid times (all the above from a 2017 article in the International Business Times (a subscription only journal)).

Anyone: take a look at any road map, and tell me how many highways (interstates) traverse Canada west/east/west ?

It is a shame that politicians do not realize how much Canada and the USA are intertwined. I do not remember the exact figures but something like 65% of Canada's population live within 65 miles of the US border. Citizens of both countries shop across the border. Some small communities in Minnesota are about 100 miles from a US Hospital. But they can go to a Canadian hospital only 20 miles away and Canada accepts their Insurance. The reverse is also true. Canada pays for their medical care in the USA. Canadian sports teams, both amateur and semi pro, often play in a USA league. High school teams often have tournaments with teams from both countries. Churches hold conferences with representation from both countries. Farmers often have land in both countries. We used to Drag Race in Fargo and the racers in North Dakota and Northern MN. came to Winnipeg when we had a nice NHRA facility. Then there are families where the spouses are from the other country. All of the above creates problems when the border is closed for this length of time. It is almost cruel. In addition many of these border towns cannot survive without the tourist revenue from the other country. Billions are being lost. Most of these businesses are just ma and pa outfits. Many are closed and will never reopen. Horrible siuation that could be fixed in a few minutes!

Almot. Exactly where are you coming from and where do you want to go? There may be some flights from either tourist areas: Maz, PV, Cancun, etc. or major cities: Hermosillo ( HMO). But I remember reading something about Mexican airlines losing FAA approval. Probably WhereoMex ( Aero mex). Don't you think that by spring you could just drive across?

Almot: I've been tracking charters and commercial passenger flights "by operator" for 11 days now. I've just started filtering flights by individual operator with a focus on ESE, TIJ, MXL, and MMNG airports near the Mex / US frontier. So far, I see nothing from those airports flying into the US. But 'm only 3 days into the watch....

All the flights from the Montreal area into Plattsburgh are indeed charter only. And, pretty expensive ($500+ CAD per person).

My bet is on the US land border opening from Canada into the US between appx ~October 25th and ~November 15th. This is just my humble opinion. I doubt that the US will restrict themselves to the 21st of each month. That 21st day doesn't have any more significance at this point.

Yeah. In some Canadian jurisdictions, there is already a mandatory vaccination passport needed to get on a plane, train, subway, bus and any and all public transportation (this, by last September, 30 days ago, in Quebec). These restrictions are not in my country, USA, but yours. If the citizens of Canada choose to give up freedom and create a 2nd class of people, that is on you. I'm sure that Playaboy can definitely work something our for anyone's return to the US. I have used him for things and have sent him work from others and everyone has been very pleased.

If he can't there is bound to be someone that can fill the bill.

With any luck whatsoever, the US border will reopen October 21, or sooner.

I do not go anywhere nrar Mexicali. We cross at Nogales. I cannot use that BC bid buy outfit. No way zm I going to drive my rig thtough the mountains. Need snow tires and chains or cables. We are going to wait for Oct. 21. If border is still closed will put the mh in storage. I will then wait a week or 2. If still closed will ship my truck to Minneapolis and I will fly and dribe to Kino. If the border opens before mid December will take our Wanderlodge to Q. But I will not stay the whole winter as wife and the cat do not want to fly. For the return to Canada I can get a flat deck tow truck to take the pu to Tucson and I will fly
Or I can leave my pu in my shop and fly home. No matter what it is darn complicated. I am still hoping for Oct. 21. If it opens I will make a batch of margaritas and drink away! You are welcome to join in!

Must be charters, I don't see commercial flights on kayak.com. Market is driven by snowbirds destined for the US. Car from Ontario to to Buffalo plus private helicopter on the same day costs $1,900. What I am looking for is similar options from Mexico - Tijuana or Mexicali.

Yes, in Baja. Don't need my rig taken to the US, only a car. Can Playaboy take it from Tijuana to SY on specified date and provide a shared charter on the same day to meet my car?

Btw, how are you going to take your rig and pickup from Mexicali to the US?
