Corpus Christi to Galveston

Planning on doing some extended traveling this winter, and looking for the least stressful way between Corpus Christi and Galveston. Highway 35 looks like it could be a scenic route or would you recommend 77 to Victoria and then 59 to 6. there will two of us traveling together, one motorhome with toad and a truck with 30' fifth wheel and if we can avoid Houston, so much the better. What do the ones who have been there done that say? Thankyou in advance

On edit, what is the ferry like to go to Point Bolvar and then go east from there???

    Redd war is correct...but business 288 in Freeport takes you over the bridge over the intercoms talk into Surfside...left to galveston and bridge fee is just one-way.

    I would take 35 then a left on 36 to S Velasco Blvd which only turns left across a couple of bridges then right on 332 over the intracoastal waterway you will be in Surfside Beach. Surfside is to your right & a net little town on stilts & the road will end in about half mile. To the left is Galveston just go up the coast when you go over the I think $2 bridge you are on the south end of Galveston Island. It is a beautiful drive from Surfside to Galveston & it will keep you out of Houston.

    I made this trip yesterday. Unless you have a need to drive through Palacios turn left on 1862 and get back on 35 at Blessing. It will save you a few miles and a few red lights.
    I realized I do this without even thinking about it.

    I go a slightly different way.
    35 up to Bay City
    457 to 521
    36 down to Freeport
    523 to 332 to 257
    I also been the way that LynnandCarol posted. Nothing wrong with it.
    Also gone by way of Victoria and much prefer 35

    would take 35 to Angleton, then FM 2004 to 45 into Galveston Island, the Bolivar ferry to crystal Beach, then 124 back up to I10 if continuing east. Feel free to PM us if need more information. We have taken this route for many years going from south MS to Rockport, TX where we winter.

    35 for sure. I would not call it scenic but it is a nice roadway and much less stress. Hi 6 is a nightmare.

    Watch for cops in Bay City. They see you as income :(
    Don't spend a penny in Bay City, just keep moving. I have boycotted BC for many years now. They saw me as income.

    I'm heading that way from Galveston to Rockport tomorrow morning rain or shine. There is a red fish down there waiting for my hook.
