Crossing the border
My husband and I are planning on moving to La Paz, MX in December. We've got a place to stay there and are looking forward to the adventure. But because of the new immigration laws we won't qualify for a Visitante Temporal visa. We would if they allowed us to combine our social security, but they do not. According to the consulate in Houston, we each need incomes of 1959.26 usd. My SS falls short. So we would only be able to enter on a tourist visa and renew by leaving the country every 6 months and coming back in.
My question concerns our personal goods. We are full-timers so everything is in the motorhome. Do we need to inventory everything? Will we be charged duty (since we clearly have more than $50 worth of stuff?
We're going in at Ysidro and know that we won't need TIPs fir The Baja so that's a positive
So much contradictory information floating around...
