For those of you who are new to Mexico, today is the celebration of the apearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe "La Virgen Morena" at the base of el Cerro del Tepeyac where the Basilica de Guadalupe is constructed in Mexico City, the Catholic Church constructed a new larger building to acomodate the growing number of pilgrims, the government is expecting arround ten million pilgrims today.
In some comunities cuetones (that are closer to rocket propelled hand granades) are launched in the air starting at midnight, to let the parisioners know that it is a festive day, depenging on the distance from the racket dogs and cats go nuts, some humans too and yes those cuetones can be nerve racking and you do not need to take cover unless of course the inprovised manufactured device "IMD" is coming your way.
