How are people dealing with the fuel issue in Mexico?

I have a 2015 Ford F350 and requires the ULSD fuel. I have issues already in the states with the darn DPF/CAT system.

Any thoughts would be helpful, I'd like to drive down to Mazatlan again.

I'm not a diesel user but I am an rver and an avid news follower. Here is an article from November 29th, 2019.

PEMEX Looks to Suspend The New Norm For Clean Diesel.

However, at the beginning of the year, a district court granted Pemex protection and suspended the forced entry of the new provision in most of Mexico. The suspension limited the mandatory distribution and sale of DUBA (ULSD) to 9 percent of the country, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, as well as the northern border. A final court decision on the most widespread supply of DUBA has not yet been made, but court documents, reviewed by Reuters, show for the first time that Pemex is fighting in Mexican courts to suspend the rule indefinitely. Continuing to use high sulfur diesel could save Mexico money by limiting imports and extending the deadline for truck manufacturers to install DUBA compatible engines. However, it could add to the perception of a recession of the government of President Andrรฉs Manuel Lรณpez Obrador in the fulfillment of environmental commitments.

Could you point us all to that public statement from Pemex, please? And that does NOT include that poorly written article on Reuters.

Your expetience is o ly pnr vehicle. There are others that will have similar experiences
There are hundreds of others with similar experience.

How about you buy a 2020 pu and see the results. You can continue using any fuel as youdont have much to lose. A person with a new high dollar vehicle might think differently .
That is absolutely ridiculous! Are you really trying to suggest that I didn't have as much to lose when I purchased a brand new pickup in 2013 and drove it to Mexico? Ridiculous!!!

Ed Behnke is a long time member and he should not risk damage to his vehicle because one petsontells him it is ok
Perhaps you should consider taking a remedial reading course. I didn't tell Ed Behnke that it was OK, I told him to listen to people with actual experience, not people just spouting their opinions. After he listens to peoples' actual experiences, he can make his own decision on whether he wants to take any risk that he perceives. At least then he will be making an informed decision, not just relying on conjecture.

of the nay-sayers who are blowing smoke on a topic they have no actual experience with, and look for information from people with verifiable actual experience. I have a 2013 Chev 3500HD that has travelled to Puerto Vallarta every year since it was new. That's SEVEN trips to PV and back, and I have had ZERO fuel-related issues. I haul a 5th there and back, and I use my truck as a daily driver for the 5 months I spend there each year. Certainly there are a few little things you need to do to avoid problems, the most important of which is to make sure your truck gets up to full operating temperature each time you drive it, and also don't let it sit and idle for any length of time. Letting it sit and idle for a lengthy time will bring on the Check Engine light even back in the US or Canada using ULSD. Also don't believe the nay-sayers who spout their opinions
that ULSD is not available anywhere but at the border. I have a Pemex Delivery Report all the way back in 2017 showing ULSD being delivered to stations in PV and my friend who provided this to me assures me that nothing has changed since then. Opinions are worthless, actual experience is what you need to look for.

I live in Mexico full time. I have no dog in this fight. Last year, I wanted a dually diesel and decided to purchase an older truck to avoid this issue.

I agree with you 150%, experience is key. Here is my first hand experience. I left the GDL area yesterday, driving up Hwy 15D, on my way to Vegas. From Mazatlan north I saw several Arco, Chevron, and Gulf stations. Arco advertised imported USA fuel. I didn't stop at the others. I don't think you will have an issue with fuel to Mazatlan.

FYI, Fuel prices were from 21.2 to 22.1 a liter with a lot of stations selling at 21.8-9 or $4.45 a . OUCH

But I would not try it in a Mercedes powered vehicle or a 500 hp plus motorhome
I would also worry about long term engine problems. How about you buy a 2020 pu and see the results. You can continue using any fuel as youdont have much to lose. A person with a new high dollar vehicle might think differently . Ed Behnke is a long time member and he should not risk damage to his vehicle because one petsontells him it is ok
Gollowing the recomendations of every vehicle mfr
He risks nothing
There is a reason why the engineers have nade thos recommendations
G M will void any guarantees of the emission and fuel systems if they suspect you are using non ulsd No drivability complaints will be warranteed .
A notation is made against your vin and remains with the vehicle.

No mfr. Is goingto tell you that lsd is alright. They dont wa nt the liability
Some sysrems in pu trucks are ok with the forbiden fuel. Some not. The HD systems in
Motorhomes may give you problems
Mercedes powered vans will likely go into limp mode. All arco stations have usa ulsd fuel. The rest probably do not except near the border. Some people use the Mexican fuel
But you do not want to damage your dpf or the sensors.

I would ask the manufacturer of your vehicle. It may simply be a U.S. regulation that requires them to state that only ULSD can be used in that vehicle for emissions purposes. The vehicle may be perfectly capable of processing regular diesel.

It is not that long a trip, you should be ok with any diesel for a few tanks.

I would not count on getting ULSD, you might but it will be hit and miss.
Even the stations that say they import all their fuel from the USA doesn't make that fuel the same as the USA. Mexico gets some of their LSD from the USA.
