Dogs in Denali

Question

Just a heads up if you have your dog(s) with you. In Denali, they are allowed on the roads and the bike paths only. Actually the bike path is a great place to walk with them... No pet sitters available - even though there is one listed in the Alpenglow (the park paper) - she is not pet sitting this year. Only option (didn't work for us because we don't tow) is the Denali RV Park &amp; Motel. They have someone that will come meet your dog(s) the night before and walk them twice during the day for $15. I am assuming it's $15.00 for each dog...? This will allow to take an all day bus trip in the park should you wish. Thanks Willow!  We had to cancel our plans for this year, but we were planning to stay at Cantwell RV Park as they have pet sitting, $25/day at owners home, while we spent the day in Denali.

This is not surprising at all. Denali is a NP and all U.S. NP's are not dog friendly.

We travel with our 85 lb. Golden Doodle. If we go to Mt. Rainier or Olympic or Mt. Rushmore or the Badlands, etc., inside the park the dog stays in the car at the Visitor Center, etc., or we leave him in the TT with the air conditioner on (if it's hot), the radio on low, and plenty of food and water so we can go on an outing.. Allows us to sight see inside the park for 3-4 hours. He is a good dog and does well with it.

With the dog inside the NP I will take him to do his business at a parking, clean it up and dispose of it, and put him back in the truck. NP's are not the perfect place to visit with your dog, but it is what it, you deal with it, and then you move on. Don't let it ruin your trip.
