- sljohnson1938ExplorerLooking for a family "B" . any takers ??
- hokeypokeyExplorerWhile visiting in Alaska, we met family "A" from Florida, who drove an RV up. They were touring around and when done, they would drive it to the Anchorage airport and meet their friends (family "B")who were flying in from Florida. Family "A" would fly home and Family "B" would take over the RV to tour Alaska and drive it home and they'd sell the RV, that they owned together. Sounds like a plan.

Are you a "temporarily displaced Alaskan", as you write.
Or are you really a "temporarily misplaced Alaskan".
From the tone of your post, I'm just wonderin'. :h

Well, from someone with a similar signature, I'm very much a temporarily displaced Alaskan. I know where I am, my employer knows where I am, and we both know that on some magical date in the future, I'll end up back in Alaska....so right now, I'm displaced, not misplaced. Work is taking me out of Alaska, but not forever. - Passin_ThruExplorerBTW/Most RV companies and dealers won't ship by anything but commercial carrier due to insurance risks. you ahave to have 500,000 in liability to haul then you ahve to be a DOT qualified carrier to haul for hire anyway. It just gets worse then, you have to log, go through DOT inspections, DOT weigh stations, and can only drive 10 hr and must have 2 1/2 hr breaks and log empty and loaded.
- Passin_ThruExplorerI saw one company that rented RVs in AK asking for people to transport to AK from IN but they wanted to rent you the camper at discount, then pay the fuel for them and get home on your own. What a rip. There are companies like Horizon, transporting from In, pay 1.47/mi one way but you must lease to them, ahve 500K liability and have CDL and log and etc etc. They require you to take a load every 90 days but you can get paid. You cannont sleep on the be, couch or floor is OK and you cannot use the facilities so it seems like if you did'nt mind campgrounds with showers that would be a way to go. CW also needs people with 3/4 tons but then they tell you you have to have a 26K rated hitch which means they will put a 26K trailer on you and make you take it and then say "We did'nt know, he volunteered." I sent them a note which they never answered about the 26K which means they are doing exactly that because I told them I have 2.4 million safe miles and they were'nt interested becasue my statement was I'd put in one rated at 20K.
- joe_b_Explorer III don't believe that GAH furnishes fuel or pays for the return trip, which is what the OP states he is looking for to transport. Plus GAH charges a rental fee to those taking the RVs to Alaska. The blog referenced by 2gypsies talks about this.
The OP is looking for someone willing to pay his expenses to drive an RV to Alaska and then pay for an airline ticket to get back home. Anyone have any information on the OPs question, not the rental company program? Sounds like several of us would be interested in a free RV trip to/from Alaska. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIHere's a blog that describes their experience transporting for Forest City, Iowa's Winnebago company a Class C to Alaska:

Does anyone have information about driving RV's from the US to Alaska for RV companies where they provide the fuel and transporation back to the US after you have delivered the RV?
I'd do that every year. We have run into with some folks doing this: http://www.greatalaskanholidays.com/spring.html
You would be hard pressed in the time they allow. It would be one of those stop take picture jump back in and drive. - retraiteExplorerResmas,
