East Texas to Branson

We will be hauling a 34 ft trailer from near Marshall Texas to Branson his summer, how is the route up 71 to 540 (Ft. Smith) Really do not want to go up 30 cause last few times we move slow and truckers try to run us over !

We live near Marshall, TX. One variation I would make to Frank's suggestion above would be to take US 82 West at New Boston, TX to US 259 and go up thorough Oklahoma to take US US 271 north of Poteau, OK which will tie directly into I-540 at Fort Smith.

We find these highways better than the one through Western Arkansas, but this is a matter of personal opinion and experience.

We travel that route every year. We take US-59N to TX-8 in Linden, Tx. To DeQueen Ar.,TX-8 turns into AR-41. US-71 from DeQueen to Ft. Smith is two-lane, with a few passing lanes, hills & curves but nothing that should be of concern. The only traffic will be in Mena.

As regards to what? Traffic? Hills?
We have driven from Fort Smith to Southwest Missouri on 540 through Northwest Arkansas several times. Great road, double lane, little traffic, hills are gradual grades. Beautiful drive especially now the dog wood and red bud are blooming. You will enjoy the Ozarks
