Fla Interstate 10 questions

Heading to SW Fla this morning from NJ and prefer to take I 95 to I 10 to I 75. Since the hurricane hit that area is 10 ok to drive? I've taken 4 across to 75 before, just like 10 better. Not as busy.

Thanks

Bob
  • Thanks everyone. Gonna hit 10 in the morning.
  • The storm did not affect the area you mention, we live just south of that didn't even get much rain. Just a little wind may 25-30 mph.
  • To the original poster:

    I just reread your post.

That section of I-10 should be untouched by the storm.

I don't have any personal knowledge since I have not traveled it but I'm sure it would be ok.
  • I just drove through the war zone area this afternoon.

The tree crews literally cut the trees at the edge of the lane of travel. Tree trunks and branches are hanging out and lying on the shoulder and in some cases a few short inches into the right lane.

I was in my Dually towing an 18' car carrier with a car on it.

I found it navigable but you had damned sure better be alert. The safety margin of having the shoulder simply is not there for about 50-75 miles.

And at the exits that lead to Panama City, the traffic was piled up and the gas lines were very long.

Fuel up well outside the areas from about mile marker 85 to about 175 and you should be fine.
