Wife just asked about eating while doing the loop. We will love to here your insight into where we can get groceries and restaurant recommendations. Thanks!!

Sorry to be late to comment... First, if you like your wine or hard stuff, be sure to take it with you. The state owned stores can be far and few in between. And the prices are strictly retail.

The Cinnamon Buns at Thousand Lakes are delicious. Don't miss the Twin Rocks Café in Bluff if they are open. They are currently doing some remodeling. The homemade chicken soup and fry bread are do die for. They Navajo Taco is a real belt buster and oh so good. In Moab the Moab Diner is wonderful. I like to order the chicken fried steak with green chili instead of cream gravy. The breakfast burritos will make you skip lunch. It gets very crowded so do a late breakfast or early dinner. The brewery in Moab has good burgers and fried cod. Escalante had a nice coffee shop and deli last time we were there. I imagine there are good places to eat everywhere. Be sure to check Trip Advisor and Yelp. The reviews have been pretty much spot on for us.

Driving through Escalante, we came across a great little road-side diner called "Nemo's". They had great bison-burgers and a good selection of ice-cream treats, a must for any road-trip. Highly recommended!

St. George has a Costco if that's your thing and you wanted to venture over there. There's a market and a couple restaurants in Panguitch.

Lots of stuff in Cedar City including a government liquor store by the Wal-Mart, Smith's etc.

I like the steakhouse in Page. Moab is an interesting place to do anything, not like the rest of Utah. There are places to eat that are fine, just not well known.

That's a strange statement. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in Southern Utah.

We visit Cedar City for a week in August most years and there are more good places to eat than nights in the week. And that's in a small town.

Had a great steak dinner at the Mexican Hat Lodge Swinging Grill. The grill really does swing:

Also, if you are into onion rings, the best I've ever had were at the Patio Drive In in Blanding, UT.

Southern Utah is not known for any good restaurants. Grocery stores are easy to find. Bigger towns tend to have better ones. Moab, Page and Cedar City are the best ones around in that country.

Yes, we stayed there too! Thanks for the memory jog. We didn't eat the steak dinner, but had muffins in the morning. Homemade and amazing!

We don't eat our much and, of course, no idea what they are doing now, but three places we like are; Escalante Outfitters in Escalante, Hells Backbone Cafe in Boulder, and the Twin Rocks Cafe in Bluff. Moab has many places to try. There are groceries available in all towns though some (like Escalante and Boulder) are limited.
