I will be travelling in the gaspe' area and my search for nofrills or atlantic superstore doesn't work there...so what are the big grocery stores. I need lots of fresh veggies/fruit, gluten free goodies. I am bringing a lot of stuff over but you never know what the border dudes will take and need to stock up when I get there.

Last time they let me keep my veggies:B

Woah, relax and breathe!

I will be travelling in October and IF the roadside stand will accommodate 25 length that is my first choice but by October the choices may be somewhat slim in selection as well. I come across many a stand while travelling (florida is one) that has no place to park for a 25 footer (what are they thinking). To those places that do, I am sure that I am their best customer of the day as I buy prolifically because that is what I mainly eat. Farm stands are always my first choice but they are so spotty.

Chains? ONLY because I don't want to figure out (in French what each store is in each town as I pass). A chain makes it simple...real simple. I need a good supply of gluten free items as well. Little ma and pa's don't always have the selection of products I need in healthy foods...or their prices are way off my budget.

I am not your average grocery store shopper, for sure.

WHO the heck ever gave you the idea that to get good food, there have to be chain stores.

I agree, just because something comes from a chain store doesn't mean it's a quality product.

Sigh!

You know they grow food in gardens in Gaspe, like many other places!!!

& while I haven't been there since 2006, I recall that their stores were much the same as else where in Canada, including some very nice local, non chain stores.

My experience is go to the roadside stand for freshness, or the Farmer's Market. Farmer's Markets have been increasing their locations up here in recent years.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.
