Glacier NP to Iowa (North route)

Family vacation this summer to Glacier NP. Plan to travel to Glacier using south route via SD, but want to return via ND and MN. Some routes include US2, and smaller roads. What is the best route back for a 33' fifth wheel. Like to do the trip in three days if possible. Thanks,

What side of Glacier are you staying on? Waterton (CA side) is incredible as well.

Took the northern route out 2 years ago. everyone said stay south of Medora and then go west and connect with 2 in MT. to stay clear of traffic from Bakken Oil boom in ND. Traffic was zero. Enjoyed the ride. Didn't have an issue with fuel stops. Stayed in Havre at a parking lot behind a gas station/casino, for 1 nite as a rest stop. Went past eastern entrance to Glacier and entered at western side. Hadn't been to park in 30 years. So thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Stayed in Columbia Falls for a week, and did the park every day. Great time.

No problems on US 2. Have taken it several times all the way from Duluth. Not even any steep grades.

I drove US 2 to Glacier, lived along US 2 for most of my life in North Dakota.

Sure, there are rural stretches, but if you cannot find fuel along US 2, then you're NOT looking for it at all.

Good grief, going east from Glacier, you can fuel up in East Glacier, Browning, Cut Bank, Shelby, Havre, Malta, Glasgow, Wolf Point, Culbertson. Then hit the North Dakota side and there's Williston, Ray, Tioga Junction, Stanley, Berthhold, and into Minot in the middle of the state.

And NONE of these places are more than the 100 mile mark apart, mostly less than that figure.

Just have a little geographic awareness of where the next town is gonna be and plan your stops depending on your fuel gauge.

Not aware of how US 2 on Montana side is with any recent information. US 2 in North Dakota is four lane all the way across the state, and half-way through Minnesota too!

Fact is, once hitting North Dakota, you can stay on four lane all the way to Iowa. Follow US 2 to Grand Forks, hit I-29 and go south.

Don't forget Roosevelt NP in Medora, ND. Route 2 works but don't let your gas gauge get down too far. As I remember there is a stretch of 100 miles with no services; warned ahead of time.
