Took the northern route out 2 years ago. everyone said stay south of Medora and then go west and connect with 2 in MT. to stay clear of traffic from Bakken Oil boom in ND. Traffic was zero. Enjoyed the ride. Didn't have an issue with fuel stops. Stayed in Havre at a parking lot behind a gas station/casino, for 1 nite as a rest stop. Went past eastern entrance to Glacier and entered at western side. Hadn't been to park in 30 years. So thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Stayed in Columbia Falls for a week, and did the park every day. Great time.
