High Winds on I-80 in WY

We were in Rawlins Wy about 2 weeks ago it was very windy also. Nebraska in the spring time is also a very windy place.

That was a wise choice.

Going through N. Mexico in March is no fun either.
Pulled off for two days once and only got going again when it shifted to a tail wind.

Wind gusted so hard it just blew out one of our windows on the other side. Buying plastic and duct tape at Walmart now.

Just remember a Wyoming weather vane is an anvil hanging from a lumber chain.

Check Wyoming DOT site. I say it's pretty helpful for traveling. Ability to search for warnings/advisorys by route.

Week ago I came from Denver to St Louis on I-70 with a good tail wind...25 mph+. Started on the right rear and shifted to the left rear. Increased mpg by 1 driving 8-10 mph faster. Other than 3 long construction zones I-70 is in pretty good condition on thick, smooth concrete roads.

drove from Gillette,SD to Livingston,Montana today. Got a whopping 7.8 avg. mpg

I-80 is why we stopped going to visit my husband's family in Rock Springs at Christmas. Too many trips messed up by high winds, road closures, etc.

Even in the summer it can be pretty brutal when pulling a trailer.

You should have taken US2 across Montana and had an early Christmas.
