HWY 2 between West Glacier and East Glacier Montana

Definitely. It is a 2 lane, windy road west of the pass, but it is a good road. Just drive carefu'll and enjoy the scenery. It''s an easier grade than the other passes over the continental divide. I pull my 37 foot 5er over it without any hesitation.

Done it several times with our 5er's. No problem.

It does cross the continental divide, but at a much lower elevation than other passes such as Logan. That's why the railroad and US highway go through Marias Pass. It's a good road, take your time and you will have a great ride.

Rt 2 is a nice scenic road, large motor homes & coaches travel it all the time. Just for my own info, where are you headed, are planning on camping somewhere on the east side?

no problems at all. We stayed at Glacier Meadows campground in Essex MT on that road and drove to both East Glacier and West Glacier from there. Beautiful scenery. Just slow down on the curves.

WARNING it is a good route IF you take it all the way to Browning. When we went last year 13 miles before Browning was a sign to turn left for St Mary on Highway 49. After about 2 miles up 49 a sign stated no vehicles longer than 21 feet but there was no place to turn around.
Later we were told that 89 from Browning to St Mary was torn up for construction and were advised that the best route from Browning to St Mary was to take 464 from Browning to 89 North of St Mary and then take 89 south to St Mary

Even before construction, US89 Browning to St Mary was a tougher drive, winding across foothills of the Rockies. 464 stays out on the plains before turning west to cross a short gap into the valley north of St Mary.

49 between East Glacier and 89 climbs up over a ridge. I haven't driven it but when looked at in detail on maps it is clearly more mountainous.

I believe there's a brand new bridge on US2 just east of East Glacier - wider and higher than the original.

You will be fine. We come across in our dually crew and 40' fiver. One thing to remember is it will be a slow go especially when getting closer to West Glacier and on into Columbia Falls and Kalispell areas. If there are wind warnings posted for the Browning area, read and heed!
