TyroneandGladys; We used the route your suggesting in 2011 when we went Montrose and The Black of the Gunnison, we picked it up at Grand Jct, the whole rte. is is the route we were going to take on the way up to Seattle this year but trouble with the rig and time constraints changed our route, Maybe next year. Also thanks to all of the other people for all the advice. Everything depends on the weather during the 1st week of Nov. If we take 58/40 out of Bakerfield we will stop in Kingman, then we will drive to somewhere around Grants NM (396mi) then to Las Cruses (271mi). I like to drive only around 300 miles or less a day. From there it's Ft. Stockton, Kerrville and home. With a 2 day stay in Woodburn OR, We'll have 10 days to get home before the in-laws arrive. We can get home in 8 to 9 days provided the weather in the Siskyous and N. AZ and N. NM cooperates. I really liked the drive over I-40 the one year we made that run. Thanks again...Be Safe to All...John.
