I 40 from Gallup to Albuquerque

Yep, multi hour delays or crawling at single digit MPH on side roads is common on some of the western roads; interstates included.

Because of my size, I'm often able to retreat from a bad mess and head down back roads or trails. Or if necessary, just find some out of the way spot to hold up. I don't like being in the crowd as people have this belief that my bathroom and water tanks should becomes communal during a standstill.

I40 has a couple of small slow downs, the main construction is in Albuquerque it self. If your heading south on 25 take exit 126 off I40 (Hwy 6) and it will drop you south of Albuquerque at Los Lunas.

I've driven it in the last 30 days and construction isn't bad in the spots they have it. The biggest problem is when an accident forces a closure. The side roads can get pretty clogged with very slow going. Couple that with typical western interstate entrance ramps located somewhere down the road over that mounting in the distance, well, having an RV can be your saving grace.

Agree with above comments. The only negative that comes to mind is the amount of semi traffic. At times you can get pinned in the right lane unless you pay very close attention to traffic ahead. You may have to drive a little faster than normal to pass a string of trucks especially on long grades or drive slower and plod along. Then there are the idiots driving aggressively weaving in and out of traffic.

Driven it many times. Never had a delay of any kind worth remembering.

We took it from Amarillo to Gallop but that was back in June. No problems then IIRC.
