I 77 southbound, from VA into NC

Heading south to Florida in a couple of weeks. Any updates on the construction north of Charlotte would be appreciated. Is construction on weekends or just weekdays? I can adjust my departure for easiest drive days. I'm thinking it best to be going past Charlotte on Sunday morning but the construction on my last trip through was holding things up quite a bit also.

Not camping. Trailer is in storage for the winter. Always at the Red Roof Inn, no charge for pets.

That's the way I try to do it...get through early in the morning. Saturday's are always bad until very late at night where in Statesville are you planning on staying?

Would that also apply on weekends, or are construction crews off? I am thinking of getting to Satesville late Saturday evening, leaving early Sunday morning to get past Charlotte. Thanks.

Worst stretch is from north of Statesville all the way through Charlotte. Not only construction but so much traffic. After many years of travelling this route have determined the best time is 3AM, except for the DUI drivers..just kidding on that.

Really traffic and construction are the problem as that is a real choke point. Early this fall it took us 45 minutes to go from exit 36 to exit 30!

My son drove it a couple of weeks ago.allow for plenty of stop time. I would route around it myself.
