Ice fields Parkway and Banff Nat Park travel

As a U.S. citizen I Searched the forums and also the Canadian firearms site without any luck for clarification on transporting a non restricted firearm through Canada to Alaska.I understand the process at the border with the paper work and so on. My question is will I be able to transport thru the Nat Parks and camp there as we pass thru or must we stay on certain routes bypassing any Nat.Parks and Provincial Parks? Most of the Park sites say no hunting and firearms allowed. Does that include properly stored and secured firearms while just passing thru? Thanks in advance for your help.
  • If it is a bolt action. Pull the bolt, store and lock by itself. With the discount on stolen firearms, it is not economical for the bad guys to buy a bolt, set back the barrel and re-chamber. The border guys liked this idea. Also a good ideal even when stored in your home.

    Hunting and Firearms
Firearms and hunting are not permitted in national
parks. If you are transporting a firearm through the
park in your vehicle to another destination it must be
unloaded and securely encased. Firearms include
slingshots, bows, BB guns, crossbows and paintball
    guns. Hunting
    carries serious
    offences in a
    national park.

firearms required to have trigger locks and ammo must be stored separately from firearm.
  • Thanks for the replies. It never occurred to me to check the Park Sites directly. That answers my questions.
