Looking for best route from Mesa east to upstate NY

Or better yet, winter in Florida. Mesa is getting WAY too crowded. Actually, the entire Phoenix metro area is way too crowded - traffic a nightmare especially in the winter with all the snowbirds.

I'd 2nd that suggestion. We travel from Cleveland down to the Phoenix area to visit family, towing a 5th wheel.

My only other suggestion is if you're not crazy about that route, and want to branch off another way, avoid I-70. It's two lanes and can be too crowded, not very relaxing.
