Looking for some routing help/suggestions heading south

We are currently in Toms Cove, Chincoteague, VA. Will be heading to Myrtle Beach from here, but do not want to use the Bay Bridge & Tunnel(Height by book is 13'-6", tunnel limit is 13'-6"). Looking for suggestions and campgrounds within 4-5 hours by way of Annapolis Bridge then down 301.
Also looking for info on whether 95 is open through NC to Myrtle Beach.
This is our first endeavor at being snow birds and distance and drive time is confusing.

    Last report I saw, 95 was open all the way. But check with the NC and SC DOT to be sure.

    I have been tempted to take 301 all the way from Florida up to near Charlotte.
    If you end up doing that please report back.
    It's a really good road in North and central Florida but don't know about the rest of it. Seems like I remember if you faithfully follow the signs in part of NC you will be on a frontage road right beside 95. Not good.

    According to the book it is 13'-6". Have not actually measured.
    We are in no great hurry. Only have to be back to Jersey in April.

    Just curious, is your rig taller than 13'6 ? Seems like an out of the way route you are considering if not.
