Looking for the truck router for class C around Minneapolis.

My father in law has a Class C. He is curious of the route to go around Minneapolis. He said his friend his friend was in an accident with his fifth wheel and the cop asked him why he didn't take the rv bypass around the city. Said he didn't see the sign.

Apparently, he was told there is some bypass intended for semis and rv/ trailers to go around the city?

35W to 494?

My father in law is taking his Class c and will either be towing his Dodge ram or boat behind it.

Any information is appreciated.
  • Depending on the day and/or time of day, going right through on I-94 can be faster and easier. But for those unfamiliar with those conditions it is probably best to just take I-694.
  • If he's coming up I-35 toward Minneapolis and continuing on north of Minneapolis on I-35, it is best to just take I-35W, through.... Good road and easy drive if not during either of the rush hours... I have driven trailers and our motor home on this route....
  • I have lived in the Minneapolis area for 25 years ( all with an RV) and I have never heard of our seen a sign for a bypass route. Trucks over 9000 GVW are prohibited on I35E south of St Paul (downtown to I494) but that is it. The beltway 494/694 is as busy or busier then going thru town.
