I am confused:R I am searching Google maps LINK and I notice ATM Express, Alaska Highway, Alcan Border, AK.

I do a street view, and find that you are a few miles from the border and see nothing, but open highway and woods. Am I to understand that there is an ATM machine out in the middle of no where?

Google Maps - as any other - has many blanks, errors, misplacementโ€™s in the North. I have reported issues to Google in the past, some times they get fixed at some point other times not at all. I guess it is a matter of priority, dense areas first.

Yes, they abandoned that side of the creek very soon after opening it.

Our Canadian debit card seems to work everywhere.
I got Swiss Francs in Switzerland, Euros in Italy and Greece, Leks in Albenia last fall.;)

The Border City Lodge (here on Google Maps) has had some hiccups in recent years.

The pumps were closed when I went by in late March. Not sure it will be providing services this summer, as it was providing limited services last summer.

Northway would be the next best bet for fuel or services. Then Tok.

Tok has a bank with a good ATM that is open 24/7. It even worked with our Canadian debit card, giving us good American cash so we had some US dollars to spend while in Alaska.

If you go back towards the border four miles (about half-way between the "supposed ATM" and the border) you will find the Border City Lodge and RV Park which has/had an ATM. According to the last review on RV Park Reviews they have let it go downhill and it nothing like the Web Site. When we stayed in 2008, it wasn't much but at least had fuel and some 15 amp spots across the bridge which apparently are no longer in use.

Zoom in and back track towards the border. There is a "campground"/ store on the west / left side of the highway. IIRC there is an ATM there.
Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.

I'm guessing that's a mistake.

Using street view, I don't see utility poles.
Maybe it's a newly installed solar powered ATM. ๐Ÿ™‚
