Major BC Hiway Closure

This news article outlines the closure of Hiway #1 /Trans Canada Hiway east of Golden,BC. Will be a MAJOR disruption to traffic flow for locals, visitors and the commercial trucking industry. Already busy alternate routes will become a nightmare, IMO.

Heads up to anyone planning on driving in this area and southern BC. Be prepared for lots of traffic and extended delays.

They'll need retaining walls in Radium Hot Springs just to keep the goats/sheep off the roads.:B

It will be very inconvenient but they don't have much choice. The only other option is a new highway from Yoho park north of the existing one to west of Golden which may not be feasible.
