There was controversy a while ago about Mexico not issuing permits for tow vehicles and non “motorhome” vehicles over a certain weight/mass and configuration such as a flatbed carrying a camper.
Some travellers were having success by obtaining a permit online vs appearing at a port of entry.
Anyone have recent experience with this?
Edit: I found this website with information. It appears that if your vehicle is not an "RV" you are limited to 3.5 tonnes or 7716 lbs GVWR in a tow vehicle or slide in camper hauler.
