Military & Customs

The Mexican army is taking over the dutyes of the customs inspectors in order to stem the flow of drugs going North and narco weapons and money going South, I do not know when this will be implemented and how it will work.

We will wait and see what happens at the border crossings.

  • Is this any different from what I have seen the last year or two? Customs has been at the physical border and the Military inspection is about 100-200 feet inside the border. They both get to Meet & Greet coming and going.
  • Señor hypoxia, what you saw was the military looking for weapons and amo only they did not care how much contrabando you had or narco dollars, supposedlly the new version will also look for weapons, amo and contraband and narco dollars and handle the payment of the taxes collected rather than the SAT personnel who are extremely corrupt? vis a vis the military?

Time will tel now that the government is trying to bring the former politicos to account for the millions of dollars that they stole and have in off-shore bank accounts.

    Hay veremos lo que suseda!

  • They are sorting things out. The old system was not reporting excess amounts of currency entering. The Aduaneros were keeping it for themselves. Pails of drug precursors were allowed to pass to the addressee. Who shows up even if the medical business was phony as a 3 dollar bill.
Garita 2 had three dogs working (Tijuana) a week ago.

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Both the Aduaneros and the ejercito (army) personnel treated Americanos much much more polite than it did us (mexicanos with mexican license plates). This has seemed to be identical to how it"s always been.

Interior highway checks by the military are called
Puestos de Control. The Federal Police checks, Retenes. Personnel at Retenes check Mexican license plate vehicles for fraudulent plates. Again, something to not worry about. With a USA motorhome I paste the hologram low on a tall windshield.

    No worries folks.
