Million Dollar Highway today (Sept 22)

We towed our 34' fifth-wheel from Ouray to Durango, Colorado today. The first time we have towed that route on US 550. It was a great experience. The golden Aspen Trees were the most impressive we have ever seen--anywhere. That was between Ouray and Silverton. Unfortunately, there was no way I could get a photo until we got to Silverton. And, more unfortunately, the weather turned cloudy, rainy, and foggy between Silverton and Durango.

I waited until I was 84 to make this historic route, and it was an entirely positive experience. I would not hesitate to do it again.

Santa Fe in the morning.
  • We have fortunate to have had the opportunity to be there and spend time in the Fall on several occasions - and already have rv park reservations in Ouray again for a week next year. I have shot literally thousands of images but, of course, save only the best. One of our favorite places.
  • At 84 and driving the Million Dollar Hwy!!! Good for you. You need a medal. :) It is definitely a beauty - especially in Fall.
  • Glad you enjoyed towing it. I agree, and enjoyed it immensely. Not everyone feels that way. :) Too bad the weather turned ugly for you.
  • Glad that you had an enjoyable trip. We were thru there in Sept. of 2007 and saw this and more.
